1. Delete from the app
The fastest way is inside Kwiker:
- Open the Kwiker app and sign in.
- Go to Profile and tap the settings icon in the top-right corner.
- Open Privacy & data.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm. You may tell us why, but you do not have to.
Deletion starts immediately and nobody has to approve it. The moment you confirm:
- your account is closed and you are signed out of every device; you can no longer sign in;
- every open trip you published and every seat you booked is cancelled;
- we try to email you a copy of your data automatically. If you already requested a copy in the last hour, or sending fails, the email may not arrive — so if you need it, request a copy before you delete (§3);
- your data is erased from our systems 30 days later and cannot be recovered.
The one time the app will ask you to wait is while a trip of yours is in progress, as driver or passenger. Try again once the trip ends.
For 90 days from the day you ask to be deleted, you cannot open a new account with the same phone number, email address or identity document — see §5.
We can stop a deletion only where we need the data for an open safety investigation, a legal obligation or a legal claim. If we do, we will tell you why.
2. Request deletion without the app
If you cannot access the app — for example you lost your phone or can no longer sign in — you can ask us to delete your account. You do not need to be signed in to use this page.
Or email info@kwiker.app from your account's email address, with the subject “Delete my account”.
To protect you, we must confirm the account is yours before we delete it. We may ask you to confirm that you control the account's email address. We will never ask for your password. We reply within 30 days.
3. Before you delete
- Settle any active trips. Cancel in the app any booking you will not make, so the driver or passenger is not left waiting, and pay or collect any cash owed. Deleting your account does not cancel your obligations to the other party.
- Request a copy of your data if you want one — Profile → Settings → Privacy & data (see Privacy §13). After deletion we cannot provide it.
4. What is deleted
After 30 days we permanently erase:
- your profile: name, email, phone number, photo, gender, city, country, language;
- your sign-in details, including any link to Google or Apple;
- your push tokens and in-app notifications;
- your vehicle and its photos, if you were a driver;
- your emergency contacts;
- your live location and trip share links;
- the identity-verification result held by Kwiker, and any document images in our own storage;
- trips you published, your seat requests, and companions;
- messages you sent and their files;
- ratings others left for you, reports you filed, and your blocks.
5. What we keep, and why
Some records are not erased with the account, because erasing them would harm other users or our ability to keep the platform safe. The right to erasure allows for this.
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Ratings you left for others | Removing them would distort other people's reputation. They are kept with no link to you | No end date, without your name |
| Reports filed about you, and moderation decisions | Protecting users, and legal claims after an incident | Currently no fixed end date |
| Cash records of trips where you were a passenger | The other party's record of the trip | No longer linked to you |
| Messages others sent you | They are the other person's data and stay with their account | As long as their account exists |
| Activity log of account and safety actions | Accountability and investigating incidents | Your name is no longer linked; an internal number matching no profile may remain |
| An irreversible value derived from your phone, email and document number | Stops an account being deleted and re-opened straight away, and stops an account removed for a safety reason from coming back. It cannot be turned back into your details and is not used for anything else | 90 days from the deletion request — no end date where the account was removed for a safety reason |
| Document images and selfie held by our verification partner, Didit | Didit keeps them under its own retention periods. We do not ask Didit automatically to delete them; write to us and we will pass your request on | Under Didit's retention periods |
| Taxi trips (testers only) | The trip record for the driver and the company | No longer linked to you; the GPS track is deleted after 90 days |
| Data the law requires us to keep, or that we need for a legal claim | Legal obligation; defending against claims | As long as the law requires or the claim lasts |
More detail: Privacy §11.
6. How long it takes
- In the app: your account is closed immediately; your data is erased after 30 days.
- By WhatsApp or email: we reply within 30 days and start the deletion once we have confirmed the account is yours; the same 30 days then apply.
- Backups: backups kept by our database provider are overwritten on their normal cycle and are not used for any other purpose.
7. Can it be undone?
No. Deletion is final. Your trips, ratings received, messages and verified status cannot be restored. If you return to Kwiker later, you will need to create a new account (after the 90 days) and, as a driver, verify again.
8. Alternatives to deleting
If you only want a break, you may not need to delete everything:
- Turn off notifications in your phone's settings.
- Stop offering rides — as a driver, simply stop posting trips.
- Correct your data instead — you can edit your profile at any time.
- Ask us to restrict processing — see Privacy §13.
