1. Delete from the app
The fastest way to delete your account is inside Kwiker:
- Open the Kwiker app and sign in.
- Go to Profile and tap the settings icon in the top-right corner.
- Open Privacy & data.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm. You may tell us why, but you do not have to.
Deletion is immediate and permanent. Nobody has to approve it. The moment you confirm:
- your account is closed and you are signed out, so it can no longer post or book trips;
- every trip you had open and every seat you had booked is cancelled;
- a copy of your data is emailed to you automatically, so you keep your own record;
- your personal data is erased from our live systems within 30 days, and cannot be recovered.
The one time the app will ask you to wait is while a trip of yours is in progress, for either role — a driver signed out mid-journey leaves a trip nobody can finish, and a passenger's seat is real while the car is moving. Delete again once the trip ends.
We can stop a deletion already under way only on the narrow grounds GDPR Article 17(3) allows — an open safety investigation or a legal claim — and if we do, we will tell you why.
After erasure we keep an irreversible identifier of the account so it cannot be re-registered for 90 days — indefinitely if the account was removed for a safety reason. It contains nothing readable about you — see how long we keep data.
2. Request deletion without the app
If you cannot access the app — for example you lost your phone or can no longer sign in — you can ask us to delete your account.
You can also email info@kwiker.app from the address registered to your account, with the subject “Delete my account”.
To protect you, we must confirm you own the account before we delete it. We may ask you to verify control of the registered phone number or email address. We will not ask you for your password.
3. Before you delete
- Settle any active trips. If you have an upcoming or in-progress trip, complete or cancel it first, and pay or collect any cash owed. Deleting your account does not cancel your obligations to the other party.
- Tell the other party. If you have accepted a booking, cancel it in the app so the driver or passenger is not left waiting.
- Request a copy of your data first if you want one — see Privacy §12. After deletion we cannot provide it.
4. What is deleted
When your deletion is processed, we permanently remove:
- your profile: name, email, phone number, profile photo, gender, city, country, language;
- your login credentials and authentication records;
- your device and push-notification tokens (you stop receiving notifications);
- your vehicle details and any vehicle photos, if you were a provider;
- your saved emergency contacts;
- your live-location records and any active trip/location share links;
- your identity-verification result, once the retention period in §5 has passed;
- your chat messages, subject to §5;
- your in-app notifications and referral codes.
5. What we keep, and why
Some records cannot be erased immediately, because we are legally required to keep them, or because erasing them would harm other users or our ability to keep the platform safe. This is permitted under the right to erasure.
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Trip and booking records | Legal obligations, disputes, and the other party's own record of the trip | Six years from the date of the trip, with your name removed |
| Ratings and reviews you left about others | Removing them would distort other people's reputation — they are kept in anonymised form, no longer linked to you | Indefinitely, anonymised |
| Safety reports, incidents, and moderation records | Protecting other users, and defending a claim arising from an incident | Five years after the report is closed |
| Messages in a reported conversation | Evidence for an open safety or abuse investigation | Until the investigation closes, then five years with the report |
| An irreversible fingerprint of your phone, email and ID document | Stops an account being deleted and re-opened straight away, and stops an account we removed for a safety reason from signing up again. It is a one-way hash — it cannot be turned back into your details, and it is not used for anything else | 90 days after you ask to be deleted — indefinitely where the account was removed for a safety reason |
| Records required by law (e.g. accounting, legal claims) | Legal obligation | the period required by law |
| Aggregated, anonymised statistics | Cannot identify you; used to understand overall usage | Indefinitely |
Your identity check — the result we hold, and the document images held by our verification partner — is kept for five years after your account is deleted and then erased. We keep it that long for one reason: it is the only record that can tie a serious safety incident to a real person after the account behind it is gone.
6. How long it takes
- In-app deletion: your account is closed immediately and you are signed out. Personal data is erased from our live systems within 30 days.
- Requests by WhatsApp or email: we respond within 30 days, as GDPR Article 12(3) requires, and complete deletion within 30 days of verifying that you own the account.
- Backups: residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before they are overwritten on the normal backup cycle. They are never used for any other purpose.
7. Can it be undone?
No. Deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed. Your trips, ratings received, message history, and verified status cannot be restored. If you return to Kwiker later, you will need to create a new account and — as a provider — complete identity verification again.
8. Alternatives to deleting
If you only want a break, you may not need to delete everything:
- Turn off notifications in your device settings.
- Stop offering rides — as a provider, simply go offline and stop posting trips.
- Correct your data instead — you can edit your profile at any time.
- Ask us to restrict processing — see Privacy §12.
9. Contact

If you are unhappy with how we handled your request, you may complain to the Information and Privacy Agency of the Republic of Kosovo — see Privacy §16.
